Hey, I’m Val Palmieri, a 20 year old Broadcast Major.
I’ve been a member since last year, and I’ve had a show for only a semester so far.
My show, Val Palmieri’s “The Black No.1 Show” is on Mondays at 4p.m. – 6p.m. I’m a music and talk program. You’ll hear Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Slayer and plenty of the like! Also, you’ll get your latest metal and music news!
My show is unique because I can tie hard rock from the 1960’s and 70’s, and mix it with metal of the 1980’s through metal of today. I like combining old and new!
If I had to be stranded with one person, I would pick Jack Sparrow (a.k.a. Johnny Depp) …because apparently he’s used to that sort of thing. If Jack should fail to get us off the island, I think he’d make being stranded enjoyable otherwise.
Without question, my favorite band is Guns N’ Roses. Aerosmith is a very close second…but! Guns songs seem to reach me personally more often, I swear Axl and I must’ve gone through the same experiences sometimes. Not to mention the musicianship, it’s FANTASTIC! Anyone that can write such varied pieces as, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “Welcome To The Jungle”, “November Rain” and “Patience” all are, are truly a talent.
Outside of WPPJ, you can find me as a hostess at your local Outback Steakhouse…curse the need for money.
Ideally, I’d love to continue doing something like my radio show for the rest of my life. Whether it’s radio promotions, or being a radio show host, I really just want to play the music I love or spread the great word about hard-rock and metal and what it provides.
A few random things about me are…
- Pageant girl at ages 9 and 10, and got to speak on the PA Senate Floor for my speaking accomplishments at those pageants. (kinda ruins the whole rocker chick thing, doesn’t it?)
-Former street hockey player, only girl on my team…was I great? No. It was fun though.

My name is Nate Zerambo. I like to spell my name “N8” – it’s just my signature. I’ll be 19 in February and I am a Freshman Broadcasting Major.
This is my first year here at WPPJ and I hosted a show last semester in the fall.My show is called the N8 L8 Show and I host it twice a week: 8-10 p.m. on THURSDAYS and 10-midnight on SATURDAYS. I play anything from the power of Led Zeppelin’s rock to the smooth sound B.B. King’s blues to the genius works of Bach’s symphony and even the awesome beats of Immortal Technique. Whatever genre music you listen to, you’ll be sure to hear a song you like. I’ll play ANY requests, so feel free to call or text in during my show. My show isn’t a series of chit chat. There’s definitely more music and less talk. I might add a comment about whatever is on my mind at the moment in between songs, which could be anything. I tend to be rando You know when you hear a song on the radio that you REALLY like? I mean you REALLY like it but you don’t know the name of it? Then the DJ doesn’t announce the name until a few songs later (or maybe even only gives the artist’s name -uggh)? Well my fellow listeners, I like to announce the name and artist of a song before AND after each song is played to save you from that stress. You’ll always know what I’m playing!
I also ask something called the “Random Question of the Day”, which can be anything from complete nonsense to a philosophical debate just for fun really.
I am part of CSB (College Students in Broadcasting), which is a cool little group where we get to tour radio and television stations. In my free time, I play guitar, video games, and I love to read and write.
I’m hoping to be a radio DJ during the week at preferably a rock station (but any station would be awesome J). I also want to work as a DJ in my own business, playing for weddings, birthday parties, etc.
I enjoy anything I can get for free, especially food. I waste a lot of time on the Internet. I sleep in on the weekends. I am neither a chocolate or vanilla person. I wear pajama pants even when I’m not sleeping. They’re freaking comfy! I love video games; Final Fantasy VII, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and Resident Evil 4 are my top favorite video games of all time. My favorite food is buffalo chicken pizza as long as it doesn’t have that gross blue cheese AKA mold. I love music…anything from hardcore metal to smooth jazz. I love peanut butter, but I’m really not a fan of peanuts. I collect movie ticket stubs even though I don’t go that often. I love animals, especially dogs and monkeys. I cannot go a day without playing guitar. I love Jesus, but hate pennies. I like the smell of freshly baked cookies and I like eating them a lot more especially with a nice cold glass of milk. Strawberry is my favorite milk, but not my favorite fruit. That would be banana. My favorite word is poop. It’s one of the most random words in the English dictionary. It sounds funny. I’m crazy and maybe semi-immature. I can be shy at times, especially around people I don’t really know. If I had a super power, I would want to be like an Animorph but instead change into Inanimate Objects. I was upset when Goodnoe’s closed. Likewise, I was upset when I found out Michael Jackson died. I give people a lot of nicknames, namely my family. I hate math. I’ve been to a few concerts including Weird Al, Robert Plant, and The Machine (Pink Floyd cover band). I play my acoustic guitar more than my electric. I used to have a pet rock named Bubba. I have a dog named Susie (she’s big). My favorite soda is Orange Cream. I’m high off life (see definition of “Nathaniel” on Urban Dictionary). I have 2 sisters that are twins. My favorite salty snack is Snyder’s Jalapeno Pretzels. My favorite candy is Reese’s Banana Cream (Elvis) BIG Cup. I used to “play” on track & cross country teams, but now I sometimes just run on my own. Oh yea and ummm…I like PIE!

Hey WPPJ fans, I’m Sully, also known as Ryan Joseph Sullivan. But just call me Sully. I came out of my mother on April 28, 1990 in St. Clair Hospital. According to Mama and Papa Sullivan, I was a “good baby who was always happy.” Tell you what, I believe them. I sometimes watch old home videos of me as a little tyke, and I must say I seemed like a little angel. Well, I think it’s safe to say that sure as hell changed.
I grew up watching WPXI Channel 11 News and always had a crush on anchor Peggy Finnegan. Even as a toddler I knew I liked older women. Much older. I would go into my parents’ bedroom, tear open my dad’s closet, and put on one of his ties. I would then grab some blank pieces of paper, shuffle them around, and pretend I was on Channel 11 News with my future girlfriend Peggy Finnegan. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to dream.
I was always drawn to television and radio. I can’t explain it, but there is just something about them that really interests me. Maybe it’s the freedom of opinions, the entertainment, the wide audience reach. I really don’t know. But it’s what I’ve always wanted to do with my life and that’s the end of it. It wasn’t until I was about 13 that I really started to get involved with TV and radio.
I used to record my voice onto cassette tape using a karaoke microphone. I’d talk (to myself) about whatever was on my mind, and eventually dubbed my ramblings “The Ryan Show.” Soon enough, I got tired of talking to myself and took my idea for a show to the people at Bethel Park Television. The facility director liked what he heard, I learned how to use some of the equipment, and in August 2005, “The Sully Show” kicked off on BPTV.
With the help of some really cool friends and volunteers around Bethel Park, I had a nice little run with the TV show. People actually seemed to watch! We even had 100 official Sully Show t-shirts printed out, and sold out within two weeks. While The Sully Show was on TV, I hosted the podcasts “The Weekly Wipe” and “SNOZcast.” I started up a YouTube account, SullyTV (www.youtube.com/sullyshow) which some people made very funny shows for.Things were going really well until it all had to end in April 2008. I was going off to college, and just didn’t have time to do The Sully Show on TV anymore. Well, it was an awesome two and a half year run and I wouldn’t change a thing.
During the summer of ’08, I was accepted at Point Park University and brought The Sully Show to WPPJ Radio. At Point Park, I met the incredibly talented Melody Novak, and decided to make her my co-host. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made. We won Point Park’s Best Talk Show in 2009 and hope to get even better as time goes on. So listen to Point Park’s most outrageous and controversial show. Or don’t. Whatever you want. I know that was a lot and you’re probably sorry you wasted your time reading this, but thanks again and “you behave.”
Melody Novak
Konichiwa, I’m Melody, I’m 20 years old and a psychology major at Point Park. I love broadcasting however, because I love talking and being on air. I am currently involved in numerous things around the Pittsburgh area. I’m highly involved in modeling, acting in movies and movie shorts, I do promotional work for a company called Exel Managements, I make music, and am currently recording in a studio and I DJ as well. I fancy a boy in flannel and glasses; I guess you can say I have a nerd fetish. I enjoy horror movies, consuming caffeine and comic books. I idolize Edie Sedgwick, Audrey Hepburn and Lady Gaga. Talking on air is a source of venting for me and is always fun and entertaining. I hope to one day break out and make it as an actress somewhere. Sully is my sidekick and almost a male version of me and he has made my experience here at Point Park absolutely mind blowing. I’m a big lover of music, the arts, and the human mind. I get along with people very well. I’m a crazy, loud, little girl, who looks like Amy Winehouse (off the drugs) that wears tutu’s and eccentric outfits, so Point Park and me go hand in hand. Ciao!
I am a junior at Point Park University. I study International Business and Intelligence and National Security. I am on United Student Government as a Junior Commuter Senator. I am also on S.I.N.S (Society for Intelligence and National Security), WPPJ Radio Station Host for The Political View. I am very motivated and love being on the radio show here at Point Park University.
What are your name, age, and major?
Anthony Costulas, 20, Political Science
How long have you been a member of WPPJ, and how long have you had a show?
I’ve been a member of WPPJ since the fall semester of my freshman year. So Three semesters.
Explain your show:
My show started out with me playing music, then it became me playing music with some random political stories mixed in. Then it was a full-out political debate show, but that got to be too much work. Now it’s back to music and talk. It was an epic journey but we got there in the end
What makes your show unique?
Very little. On my show you’re going to hear us blabber about everything from Geography to my favorite episode of Are you afraid of the Dark. My music taste isn’t that unique either. You probably could just put my i-pod on shuffle and see a similar effect
If you were on a stranded island, and had to be with one person, who would they be?
Josh Isenberg. . . That’s a bold faced lie, I hate sports and I’d probably beat him to death with a coconut after 10 hours of hearing how great Brett Favre is. Ummm I’m going to go with Jack Hanna (the animal guy) I feel like he’d be pretty interesting in the wild. At the very least it would be nice to see an untrained animal ferociously attack him
What is your favorite band/artist and why?
I love the band Motion City Soundtrack. I’ve seen them fourteen times. If you tune in you’ll probably hear a lot of them.
What activities outside of WPPJ are you involved in?
I am a Senator on USG as well as a Community Facilitator for the office of campus life.
Explain what you want to do outside of college? Dream job?
I would love to have a political radio show someday when I’m old and gray.
What interesting facts should we know about you? Give me some random facts about yourself, or things that I would say “wow, that’s pretty cool.”
I was once in a disney movie. . . and I’m not telling you which one. Happy hunting.
Okay listen, Im Claire and I am completely different than anyone else at WPPJ. I am obsessed with the movie series Saw, and I play all types of crazy and awesome music, such as Marilyn Manson, White Chapel, Winds of Plague, and
Metallica. Ill throw in some old 90′s favorites as well. If I was stranded on an Island, I’d want to be with Dethklok. Im 21 years old, and want to become the female Howard Stern. I was in girl scouts for 14 years, even though nobody would ever guess it. I am the oldest of 4 children, and I love my job as a barista. Come get some coffee from me!
Check out my show Tuesdays from 6-8, entitled “Lewd, Crude and Tattooed.” You will eat this up.
What’s up everyone, we are John and Kelsey. We are both 19 and broadcast majors at Point Park University.
Our show is called The Most Indietastic Show, it is on Fridays 8-10pm. We play indie rock music and discuss new albums, bands, and ramble about bands we love or hate. We play grat music that nobody else plays, and we are obviously funny and sarcastic.
I, Kelsey, want to be stuck on a desert island with Ewan McGregor.
I, John, want to be with Jesse Colaizzi, because he is awesome! Catch our show on Fridays from 8-10pm on WPPJ!
Hey everyone,My name is Claire Gysegem…I’m 18 years old and I’m a broadcasting major with a television concentration here at Point Park.I’ve been a member of PJ since the first semester of my freshman year, and I’ve had my show since September.
My show is called the Tuning Peg. It’s from 10pm to 12am on Tuesdays. I play classic hits from the late fifties to the mid eighties…and I try to play a lot of songs that have revolutionized pop culture or influenced the music we hear today.
I play a lot of international music, as well. You’ll hear some bossa nova and early French works…and I have various other recordings of Indian and African artists.
I would want to be deserted on a stranded island with Macgyver. Hah!
At the moment, anyone I feel brings something unique to the table, i like. I’ve been listening to a lot of Patrick Cleandenim and Zach Condon. I also never get tired of The Strokes, Todd Rundgren, and Simply Red. Anyone who puts art and soul into their work and it’s not just some manufactured commercial.
I am involved with U-View and The Cavalcade.
I would love to start off field reporting and then eventually end up behind the desk…and work my way up into a top 25 market where I would anchor and direct. Preferably somewhere along the east coast…but I’ll make my bed wherever! I have to have chocolate at least once a day…my favorite show is Keeping Up Appearances…and I will forever have Youngstown Pride!
Hey all, my name is Donna Winnick, 18, Broadcast Journalism This is our first semester on WPPJ Our show is called “Movie Madness,” 6-8 PM . I discuss my favorite movies, pertaining to the designated theme each week, as well as their soundtracks. The music we play is movie based.
I listen to anything from a Broadway musical. I’m involved at U-View. I’d love to work as an ESPN analysis or anchor the Today Show. and something crazy about me is the fact that I’m a 3 time gold medalist at the Macabbi Games (Junior Jewish Olympics) for jazz, lyrical and tap dance.
Do you enjoy the original morning shows? Sipping coffee and relaxing to a nice, sexual voice? Well, we have those voices, but we are FAR from original. KJ on PJ, with hosts Kayla Seybert and Josh Isenberg, hits the air every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9AM. You might ask why wake up and listen? Well ask yourself these questions….
1. Do you like to have morning wood? We enhance that.
2. Do you love to listen about entertainment, sports, news, and weather? We make it unique and pretty sweet.
3. Do you think Kayla Seybert and Josh Isenberg are two attractive humans? C’Mon, Man!
4. Lastly, Do you love to wake up with a smile on your face, start to laugh and wonder what the hell is going to be said next?
THAT IS KJ ON PJ. Unlike Coffee, we leave a sweet and delicious taste in your mouth. And you don’t even need gum.
Hey everyone, Matthew Couch Cooper here. I’m 20 and a SAEM Major I am a New Member at WPPJ.
My show will be called Half-Breed. I intend on playing familiar artists and underground artists, but with lesser-known songs. Genres will range from rock, punk, ska, metal, acoustic. With my show I intend to play music that the general audience is not immediately familiar with, but holds subconscious knowledge of. Richard Dean Anderson. You’ll always survive with MacGyver around. My favorite Band is…. Brand New. They experiment with their sound and are always evolving based on their interests and not what the trend is in the music industry I love Playing bass guitar / BMX /Creative Writing / Mooning I’m aspiring to be involved in record production or live entertainment production.
I lived on beachfront property while growing up for 14 years. I have one blonde eyelash. I have a scar on my eyebrow from a sippy-cup. Half of my siblings including myself are adopted. I’m a conservative-minded, strongly-religious Latino on campus at Point Park, making me a minority.
Hey! My name is Caitlin Magarity, and I am a cinema major in my sophomore year at Point Park University. This is my first year working with WPPJ; I wish I had started sooner! I have a very strong passion for film as well as writing music. I can only hope that one day I can pursue either in some way, whether it be creating movie scores or taking part in the filming process.
My show is titled “Mellow Mondays”. Taking place from 2pm to 4pm, you will hear a mix of folk, acoustic, and orchestral rock. My intent is to find catchy, beautiful, and interesting songs that people haven’t necessarily been exposed to before in hopes that the listeners will find something they enjoy.
My name isAdam Catscratch Walker-Serrano/cumulative age of 18.5 earth years and a Cinema Major. I have had a radio show since the beginning of this semester. My first show was on Monday the 25th of January. On Mondays from 12:00-2:00 I host “One Step Beyond with Adam Catscratch”. I try to play music from a wide range of artists and genres, from 3rd wave ska to electro, to internet musicians. I want to be stranded on a desert island with John Locke
If I really had to pick a favorite band or artist, I couldn’t. For now I’ll say Lemon Demon (aka Neil Cicierega). He’s an extremely talented artist, musician, and filmmaker, and he’s entirely self made and promoted, and he basically rules the internet. I love going to Dance parties! Outside of college I am a rock star. My dream job is to be the ruler of a small planet. I recently opened for the 80’s darkwave band ‘Black Tape for a Blue Girl’. As a musician my main instruments include Accordion and Electric Ukulele. I received my name after turning in a physics paper while wearing a cat suit.
Hey everyone, I’m Angela Rae Goodwin. I’m 21 and a Broadcasting and Ad/PR major.
I am 3 yr member and also 3 yrs on the air at WPPJ My show is from 4-6 every wed and it is called Happy Hour. IT is mainly top 40 of today and the past decade , with some throwbacks to the 90s and 80s as well. I also talk entertainment and PPU news. I am a big Justin Timberlake fan and honor him every hour with a JT song of the hour.
I would love to be stranded on an island with either Justin Timberake and Jeff Reed of the Steelers. Because they are attractive men.. Do I need to explain really? I have already stated that my favorite artist is Justin Timberlake , and that is because I truly believe he is a gifted singer and performer. I also am a big fan of such bands artists as Britney, Jay-z, TI , Lil Wayne, John Mayer, Aerosmith, and Red Hot Chili Peppers
WPPJ usually consumes my fun times at PPU, but I am also one of the vice presidents of College Students in Broadcasting . I also work in the Registrars Office of Ppu and have voiced several website tutorials for them. I would love to literally be the next Ryan Seacrest. I want to be an on-air personality ,preferably in the top 40 field. I also would love to work for the E! network or Vh1. IF that doesn’t pan out, I would work in sales or promotions of a radio station. I am the oldest of 7 children, I have little mermaid bed sheets, and ive touched Jeff Reed twice!
