My predicted finish for the AL East:

1. Red Sox

2. Rays

3. Yankees

4. Blue Jay

5. Orioles

My outlook: Like in years past this is once again one of the most competitive divisions in all of baseball.  Like the last couple of years the team that wins this could go on to the World Series.  This once again the AL East features the three best teams in Majors Leagues.  The predicted order for the top three could go numerous ways but I felt the Red Sox would win the division.  I chose the Rays to finish second in the divisions because they probably have the best young talent in majors.  The only reason why I didn’t pick the Yankees to finish in the top two is because they are getting old, I believe they need one more bat in the lineup and I’m not sold on their pitching.  I picked the Jays to finish forth and I feel bad for them because in any other division they would compete for the title but the are victims of circumstance.  And once again I Orioles to finish last because they still rebuilding but I feel they are heading in the right direction

Division MVP: Evan Longoria

Best Pitching: Red Sox

Best Manager: Terry Francona

Best Management: Rays

Team That could surprise: Orioles

Best Young talent: Rays

My predicted finish for the AL Central:

1. Twins

2. White Sox

3. Tigers

4. Indians

5. Royals

My outlook: Much like the AL East the AL Central is wide open and anybody can win it.  For the Central this year once again I see the Twins winning the division.  The Twins are the model of consistency and I see them taking the Central again.  But right behind them and competing for the Central I see the White Sox also battling for the division.  With the addition of a healthy Jake Peavy to the pitching staff the White Sox have the best pitching staff in the division and possibly in the entire majors.  I see the Tigers finishing third but they could compete for the division as well.  I see the Indians to finish forth and I think a good season for them would be finishing at .500 or slightly above, because they are rebuilding and replacing a bunch of good players.  And once again I the Royals in the basement even with having Zack Greinke.

Division MVP: Joe Mauer

Best Pitching: White Sox

Best Manager: Ron Gardenhire

Best Management: Twins

Team that could surprise: Tigers

Best young talent: Twins

Another year, another IBS conference.  Just like in years member from WPPJ and U-View went up to New York for the 70th annual IBS conference.  This is the radio and webcasting conference where colleges around the nation convene to discuss issues in the industry.

Even though the confenrence the main part of the trip there were also some other worth while experiences on the trip.  First was are visit to MTV’s Reese Patterson and Rob Yacyshyn producers of “Made”.  It was very interesting to hear their journey’s to their rerspective  positions. We also got to meet Point Park alumnus Dave Perozzi producer at ABC News.  It was nice to see a Point Park alum who has mad far in the industry.  And once again we mad our annual visit to the Paley Center of Media and we got to tour WNYC.  But the hight of the tours was visiting NYU and meeting music producer legend Tony Visconti.

Some personal highlights for me where meeting Chuck D from Public Enemy and our trips to Jimmy’s Corner.  I think we learned a lot about each other at that place.  And for positive news I did not make any roof top adventures this year.

Here’s a report on our trip

Lately many have claimed that Christina Aguilera’s New song: XTina\’s \”Not Myself Tonight\” seems to rip off Lady Gaga Videos like: Bad Romance……. but a fan made video has surfaced making it seem like it may be the other way around?

you be the judge.. has some pretty valid points: Lady Gaga. not an original

Also, Back in the 90s I was a pretty avid Ace Of Base fan and its pretty obvious That GAGA’s latest hit Alejandro is very closely resembling Ace of Base’s Dont Turn Around

What do you think about Lady Gaga? Does she have a penis? sorry different debate………

I like to boil it down to one thing:  ITS POP MUSIC! NOTHINGS ORIGINAL!

WPPJ Looks To The Future

Blog Polls

This semester Point Park Universities radio station WPPJ has seen numerous amount of changes.  In the forefront of the changes that were, being made to WPPJ was new General Manager Anthony Costulas.  Costulas felt that there were some areas at that needed to be addressed.  “Some of the other changes we put into place include trying to spruce the place up a bit and make it look more professional one day a time.  Also trying to fix some of the structural problems we have as far as staffing; trying to make communication better,” says Costulas.  But one of the biggest additions to WPPJ this semester has been the WPPJ web site.

The Inception of  the Web Site

For a good year now, WPPJ has approached Point Park’s administration about creating a web site but it was not until this semester that it became a reality.  “It was just going into a office of people and saying “we want a web site” and when they told me “no” we just told them that we were going to do it with are budget whether they liked or not and that changed their tone,” says Costulas.  Costulas feels that everyone just needed to get over the fear of the idea being rejected by the administration.  “It was getting over people saying that we couldn’t do it and once you can convince people that you can do it makes the process much easier,” says Costulas.  But once the site was approved Costulas, credits Professor Heather Starr-Fielder and Music Director James Acklin for the actual design of the site.  “I think the design stand-point Professor Heather Starr-Fielder pretty much did all that end for us as well as our Music Director James Acklin.  Heather really designed the basic layout of a web site.  She gave us the basic feel and James sort of wanted to put our own spin on it,” say Costulas. Other than the initial design of the site, Costulas says that the entire site is run by students and members of WPPJ.  Costulas feels that the site has helped WPPJ tremendously and he has been very pleased with the response it has gotten from the public.  “Once they log on to the web site we get a fantastic response from everyone,” say Costulas.

The Future of WPPJ

Some other issues that Costulas wanted to change were internal issues and he has felt that WPPJ has progressed in this area as well.  “I think some of the old stigmas of people worried about not always being in contact with one another that sort of disappeared.  I think less DJ’s feel like they’re being excluded,” says Costulas.  One other issue that Costulas feels that has gotten an outstanding response is members being more involved with the everyday processes that goes on at WPPJ.  Production Director Steve Linkowski has also noticed more involvement at WPPJ.  “Since I’ve joined WPPJ in the fall of 2008, I’ve noticed that WPPJ has become more of an organized medium.  It’s in the sense that the station has gone from a laid-back hideout for a few people to a place where there seems to be a lot more involvement from other concentrations in the JMC department, especially with U-View,” says Linkowski.  Linkowski also feels this only the beginning and even bigger and better things could lie ahead for WPPJ.  “I can definitely see WPPJ continuing to merge with other divisions of Point Park’s JMC department (i.e. U-View) to bring a bigger pool of talent and resources to both areas.  I can also see WPPJ getting a lot of physical improvements: More funding, better equipment, a second production studio, possibly even a brand new location on-campus altogether.  It’s a very exciting time to be a part of WPPJ and its only going to get more promising, from how things have been developing over the past few years,” says Linkowski.  Costulas agrees with Linkowski’s assessment.  “I think next everyone will be pleasantly surprised of what we developed and made.  Hopefully that’s something we can pass on to future generations.”

In today’s society celebrities often view the media as malicious because of hounding paparazzi and negative press; But what about the average person?  Do people just like you get victimized by the media?  Unfortunately the answer is yes.  Ordinary people get mistreated by the media more often than you think.

To gain a better understanding I’ve provided background information and summarized two situations where the media has violated people just like you and I.

A common falsehood in the media is the misuse of still and video photographs.  At times the media is lazy and takes advantage of innocent people and places them in non-favorable light.  However, if a person feels they have been placed in false light they can sue for invasion of privacy.

In some states false light is not recognized.  This means that people can rely on another form of protection similar to that of false light which is called defamation.  Defamation protects a person’s public reputation.  The best thing for both the media and its viewers is for the media to always check their facts and present their stories in correct fashion, regardless if their particular state recognizes false light or not.  It’s not okay for the media to abuse a person’s rights just because they don’t feel like taking the extra time to publish a story correctly.

False-light is an invasion of privacy.  It is illegal to publicize material that places an individual in a false light if the false light in which the individual was placed would be offensive to a reasonable person, and if the publisher of the material was at fault when the publication was made.

The media took advantage of a little girl crying on the street who got brushed by a speeding car in an intersection.  In the Leverton v. Curtis Publishing Co. case a photograph was taken of a little girl crying on a city street of Birmingham, Alabama after she was almost run over by a car.  The next day the story and photograph were published in the newspaper.  The same photograph was used twenty months later by Curtis Publishing Company in addition with an article on traffic accidents that focused on pedestrian carelessness under the title, ‘They Ask To Be Killed’ by David G. Wittels.  The magazine editors made it seem like she caused the accident by running in between parked cars.  Meanwhile, she had nothing to do with the accident, she wasn’t even there.  The media used an old unrelated photograph in a new story.

Eleanor Sue Leverton, the plaintiff, sued Curtis Publishing Company, the defendant, for publication that was a violation of her right of privacy.

The court confirmed defendant’s publication was an actionable invasion of the plaintiff’s right of privacy because its use of the photograph had nothing to do with the accident.  However, the original publication of the photograph was allowed because the plaintiff at the time was the object of legitimate public interest, but the privilege was lost by the defendant because the photograph was unrelated to the story.

The editors could have avoided the law suit if they weren’t so lazy as to use a random photograph out of the files to illustrate pedestrian carelessness.  The editors were the careless ones in this case.

Another example involved WJLA-TV in Washington D.C. who broadcasted a story on a new medical treatment for genital herpes.  A random woman standing on a busy city street was victimized by a news station who suggested that she has genital herpes. The station ran the story on both the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news.  However, on the 11 p.m. news, the station made a crucial mistake and got sued as a result by Linda Duncan.

The 6 p.m. news began with a video clip of a busy city street full of pedestrians.  Next the camera zoomed in on Duncan as she was standing on the street corner.  Then Duncan turned and looked into the camera.  It was clear to viewers that her identity was not concealed in any way.

However, the there was no narration during the opening footage containing Duncan.  The video clip cut to a reporter standing on the street.  The reporter then said, “For the twenty million Americans who have herpes, it’s not a cure.”  The rest of the story followed.  The 6 p.m. news ran the story correctly using the unrelated video clip because the narration didn’t occur during the opening video.  In other words, it didn’t make Duncan appear as a victim.

On the other hand, the 11 p.m. news began the story with the reporter reading the opening statement, “For the twenty million Americans who have herpes, it’s not a cure,” while viewers watched the opening video clip with Duncan as the focus.  The 11 p.m. broadcast gave viewers the impression that Duncan is a victim of genital herpes.

According to the court a defense motion to dismiss the privacy and defamation actions was granted as it related to the 6 p.m. newscast because there wasn’t a sufficient connection between pictures of the plaintiff and the reporter’s statement.

However, the 11 p.m. broadcast was denied a summary judgment.  The court ruled that, “The juxtaposition of this film and commentary concerning twenty million Americans with herpes is sufficient to support an inference that indeed the plaintiff was a victim.”

While it’s great that false light claims exist to protect people from offensive and false facts stated about them to the public, they don’t exist in every state.  A number of states don’t recognize false light claims because of the overlap with defamation and because of the unclear nature of the tort might chill free speech.

In the Bueno v. Denver Publishing Co. case the court addressed whether Colorado permits a plaintiff to sue for the tort of false light invasion of privacy.

The Justices decided to reverse the court of appeals and join jurisdictions that do not recognize false light as a viable invasion of privacy tort.  Their reasoning for this decision was that the tort is “Highly duplicative of defamation both in interests protected and conduct averted.  False light tort raises the spectre of a chilling effect on First Amendment freedoms.”

For individuals whose states do not recognize false light they always have defamation to fall back on, which is dumb because even though they are similar they are still slightly different.  Defamation protects a person’s public reputation while false light cures the victim of a false statement for his or her emotional distress.

However, what’s important is that the media does have the power to avoid these falsehoods all together.  The best thing for everyone is for the media to do their job correctly by following good journalistic practices, like being fair and accurate.  Members of the media need to be careful in what they use to illustrate their work.  Sometimes members of the media publish statements that seem harmless to them but may offend viewers and could result in a lawsuit if they are false. The media simply needs to use their brains before they publish something that places an individual in false light.

If the media does what’s right and respects people’s privacy it will save themselves and its viewers time and most importantly in today’s economy, money.

My predicted finish for the AL West:

1. Angels

2. Rangers

3. A’s

4. Mariners

My Outlook: The only thing consistent with the AL West in recent years that you know that almost every year in recent year is the Angels will win the division.  And that how I believe it will play out again.  Even though they lost their stud pitcher John Lackey to free agency (Red Sox) I still believe they have enough to win the division again.  Other than that the predicted order of the division can go any which way.  Picked the Rangers to finish second just based on their performance last year, but the Mariners could finish second too.  Like I said after the Angels the rest of the division is up for grabs

Division MVP: Torii Hunter

Best Pitching: Mariners

Best Manager: Mike Scioscia

Best Management: A’s

Team that could surprise: Mariners

Best young talent: A’s

My pedicted finish for the NL West:

1. Dodgers

2. Giants

3. Rockies

4. D-Backs

5. Padres

My Outlook:  The NL West usually is a very goofy division. It is very hard to predict how teams will finish.  But like the past two seasons I see the Dodgers being the team to beat in the divisions.  But this year I also see the Giants making a run at the division.  With there star-studded pitching the Giants are probably one of the most dangerous teams in the MLB.  But after the first two team in the West the rest of the division is a crap shoot.  Both the Rockies (who were the Cinderella team last year) or the D-Backs could sneak up on the Giants and potentially take a potential playoff spot away from them.  The Padres I see them having another rebuilding year so I dont think they will be much a player in the division.

Division MVP: Tim Lincecum

Best Pitching: Giants

Best Manager: Joe Torrie

Best Management: Dodgers

Team the could surprise: Giants

Best Young talent: Giants

My predicted order for the NL East:

1. Phillies
2. Braves
3. Mets
4. Marlins
5. Nationals

My Outlook:  Once again for the third straight season I see the Phillies taking the NL East.  In fact once again I see the Phillies as the team to beat in the National league.  But I do see the Braves at the very least challenging the Phillies for the NL East title this year, espeally dod to the fact the this Bobby Cox’s last year as skipper for the Braves. The Mets if they get their act together they should at least compete for the NL East but once again I see this team floundering like they have in years past.  The marlins are an intriguing team because they do have good young talent so they could sneak up and surprise some people this year.  And like everyone else I see the Nationals in last place, much like the Pirates they are currently rebuilding and going through a youth movement.

Division MVP: Ryan Howard

Best Pitching: Phillies

Best Manager: Bobby Cox

Best Management: Braves

Team that could surprise: Marlins

Best young talent: Marlins

My Predictions for the N.L. Central:

1. Cardinals
2. Cubs
3. Brewers
4. Astros
5. Reds
6. Pirates

My Outlook:  For the most part the NL Central is going to look like it has in the past.  The Cardinals and the Cub are clearly the two superior teams in the divison and will battle for the top spot but I see the Cardinals winning the division because of their pitching and offense.  The brewers should finish no worse than third.  The Astros and the Reds will battle for forth and fifth spot, but if the Astros suffer major injuries they could battle the Pirates for the sixth spot in the division.  And like in years past the Pirates will make the home againn in the cellar.

Division MVP: Albert Pujols

Best Pitching Staff: Cardinals

Best Manager: Tony LaRussa

Best Management: Cardinals

Team that could surprise: Reds

Best young talent: Pirates

In September Jay-Z released his 11th studio album and just like the rest of his albums, it went number 1.  But unlike his other albums The Blueprint 3  is probably the most mature album to date.  The Blueprint 3 features many top flight artist including Kanye West, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Swiss Beatz, Drake, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, and Mr. Hudson.  The first single to be released from the BP3 was “D.O.A.” which was about Jay criticizing rappers about uses auto-tune and how its killing oringinality.  The next single the was released and gave BP3 much hype was “Run This Town” which featured Rihanna and Kanye West.  Then “Empire State of Mind” was released and it featured Alicia Keys and the song was Jay’s tribute to his home town New York.  The significance of the single was it was Jay’s first single to go number one.  “On to the next one” and “Forever young”  has also been released. Overall BP3 is a very solid album, it may not be Jay’s best album but its not of his better ones.  Their is really not a bad song on the album and their is something for everyone

This past a few t me and fellow PJ member Angela Goodwin had the distinct honor to see Jay-Z live at the Mellon Arena.  And let me tell you it was one of the best shows that I have seen.  Jay simply ripped it up that night and proved why he is the best in the game. The night started with started with Trey Songz.  All his set was not terrible it was great either. From my point of view he played ten different versions of the same song.  Which all involved how great he is in bed, which is very debatable.  After the intermission it was assumed that Young Jeezy was up next but instead Jay came on the stage through a trap door.  He opened with “Run This Town” and did various songs from the Blueprint 3, including “Empire State of Mind” and “Already Home” which Trey Songz took the place of Kid Cudi and helped Jay sing the chorus. Jay did songs from other albums like “99 problems” where he was accompanied by Memphis Bleek.  Then Jay was finally accompanied by Young Jeezy when they did “Real As it Gets”. Jay left the stage and Jeezy did a spirited set which was capped off by him performing “Put On” and “My President is Black” accompanied by Jay.  Jay opened up his with a video of Obama brushing dirt off his should and he opened the second part of his set with “Dirt off your shoulders”  Jay did a series of other songs and the last song he did from the blueprint 3 was Thank you.  Then he prompted to the the crowd if they just came to show because of the blueprint 3 they could leave the arena if the wanted or they could stay and get educated.  At this point Jay did a rapid fire of songs from early albums including “Hard Knock Life” and “Big Pimpin”.  Jay ended his show as he usually does by point people in the crowd and thanking everyone for coming.  The encore he performed was not surprisingly “Encore”  Overall Jay put on a very good with great energy.  And once again he proved why he is the best in the business and nobody has his swagga.

This past Friday I hosted the lead singer, “Gene” from the band Gene the Werewolf on my radio show.  The show started off a little rough, primarily due to getting into the station late.  Showing up ten minutes early to ask security to be allowed in apparently isn’t early enough.  To any DJs reading this, if you are locked out of the station you should ask security to open the door at least a half hour early.

While I was waiting to enter the station, I noticed that the notorious “Never Gonna Give You Up” was being broadcast from the studio in the Point Cafe.  My initial thought to this was “Hmm, I had no idea that we had such the forgotten 80s song in our library.”  Then I noticed that the song was a perfect loop of the first verse & main chorus of the song.  Finally when I got into the station at 10:20am, there were no chairs at all anywhere in the room.  I had to jack two chairs from the recording room and bring them into the soundboard room.  The monitor was turned off, so when I went to turn it on, it would not present a display.  After pissing around with the monitor settings for a good five minutes, something clicked over and turned the display on to a background screenshot of Mozilla Firefox and Rick Astley, with a continuous looped track being played on all night over the station.  Mind you that by this time it was 10:30am and most likely anyone tuning in to listen to Gene the Werewolf would have been severely deterred at this point from listening at all.

From this point I did my best to recover from this horrible April Fool’s joke that primarily affected my listeners and myself on April 2nd.   I was pretty livid.  For the rest of the half hour remaining I played my Metal playlist from www.Playlist.com without commercial interruption in order to make up for the damage done.

“Gene” arrived around a quarter to 11:00am and this helped to lighten my mood for the show.  We sat and talked briefly before I kicked the microphones on at 11:10 and got the show started.  We talked about different matters from the album “Light Me Up” (now available at your local Pittsburgh region Hot Topic stores), his background in music and experience in Punchline, as well as his upcoming show that Saturday night.  At the end of the show he got his guitar ready and performed an acoustic version of the band’s song “Superhero” over the air.

The following night, I arrived early at Altar Bar to job shadow Josh from Drusky Entertainment, as well as attend the show in support of the band Gene the Werewolf.  While the band was performing sound check in the early evening, I went over and made acquaintances with the members of the band Vesta, formerly the Juliana Theory.  They supplied me with a copy of their latest release “0.1 Daylight’s Coming” and were interested in making an appearance on the show for this autumn when classes kick back up.  Keep an eye out for Vesta!

Speaking of potential bands to appear on the station, I took some time after Gene the Werewolf’s performance to talk to Steve Soboslai from the local band Punchline and make acquaintances with him.  This very cool and friendly guy was up to the idea of the band appearing on the show in the autumn and also presented the idea of supplying me with new material to air over the station to get promoted.  If you happen to know any Punchline fans, let them know and have them become a fan of “cDot on WPPJ Radio” on Facebook.  I make sure to keep things updated on that page!

Tune in this Friday as I host Point Park’s very own Chad Gerbe and broadcast new material that he has recorded!  Feel free to call in and talk, shoot a question or just send some love our way:  (412) 392-4723.

For now, I’m Audi5000.  Keep on listening!

What a sad, despicable nation that I live in.

This country once founded upon democracy, freedom & individualism is now disheveled and raped of all it once stood for!  For what, may I ask?  the good of the people?  When Obama speaks of the people and addresses us as the people whom this health care reform will benefit, never once does he mean the individual people.  When Obama speaks of the people, he addresses us as a whole.  There is no place for individuality left in this country as far as the government is concerned.  We are simply the people as a whole, and people relinquishing our power.

If you were to be presented with the proposal to join an organization and you decided that you did not have the time to devote to be involved in such the organization, would you not be livid when told that you would suffer punitive ramifications for not becoming an involved member?  Thus is the same for health care.  Perhaps a man is self-employed and unable to afford himself health care at a given moment of his life.  Should he be fined $750 for not owning an insurance policy?  Further, should he be at the hands of cumulative charges for not being able to afford said insurance?  I think not.

To punish a citizen for not owning health care is worse than punishing a citizen for freely choosing which political party they affiliate themselves with.  The fathers of this nation constructed our Constitution on the ideals that man has free choice to pursue his own interests as long as they do not infringe upon another man’s interests.  To hell with it, that was a major factor in the Pilgrimage to the Americas during the early 1620s in the pursuit of religious freedom.  Contemporarily we potentially face punitive fines for not having the ability to acquire insurance?  As a free man (being as free as I only believe myself to be), I will seek to refrain from any form of health care for myself in a personal boycott.  Further, I will refuse to pay any fines that may be pressed in my direction.

I am healthy enough as I stand.  I have a strong immune system due to my personal refrain from tobacco products or any narcotic drugs.  I drink on occasion but alcohol does hold the ability to benefit the body in a manner that, if consumed responsibly, will not damage the body.  As an individual, I recognize how to take care of my own body, what temperature range it is most comfortable within and how to rehabilitate it to good health if I become ill.  Therefore, if I feel that I am able to live without the possession of an insurance policy, should that not be my own personal right?

If this is not so in the country that I live in, I ask what happened to the country in which I used to live?  What became of the dream for a man to pursue that which he may choose?  If my choice to not acquire health care does indeed intervene in another man’s pursuit of happiness, then may he speak and inform me.  If not, then this government can fuck themselves with the iron fist that they shake in my direction.

What sickens me most of this matter is the prideful manner in which our beloved B. Hussein Obama praises the passing of this reform.  Congratulations, sir.  You planted the first seed of socialism in American soil, now get thee hence.  Now that a citizen can drop out from college and benefit from a more prosperous form of health care than a Princeton valedictorian, what motivation is there to better oneself anymore?  What incentive is there for education in this nation?  Perhaps I should drop all my credits from Point Park and squat amongst the other vagrants at the intersection of Carson St and 18th St.  At least I would have the opportunity to benefit from the insurance to afford the scraping of my lungs in order to remove all the disgusting second-hand smoke that I have been exposed to over the last twenty one years of my life.

However, as an ambitious man with personal goals and the intent to make a better man than what I already stand to be, I will not simply take the easy road.  I intend to put a fight up against this shameful act.  Rather than join the leisurely, misdirected liberal crowd that hopes to rob from the rich and share with the poor, I will seek to withdraw from Hussein Obama’s “universal healthcare for all” party.  Something must be done to reverse the destruction of the United States of America.

To all those who still rally alongside your beloved leader, what say you when he declares the Constitution to be obsolete?  When the day comes that he openly states a 200+ year old document to be irrelevant to the times in which we live in, will you stand beside him as he laughs this document to death?  Perhaps the document is so many years old.  Should we scrap the idea that 2+2=4?  I mean, it has been centuries since this mathematic fact has been established.  To the gallows with it, tis unnecessarily obsolete in this day in age!

We live in dangerous times.  Our young citizens must not simply become politically active.  Rather, our fellow young citizens must become INTELLECTUALLY politically active!  Out with the televisions and the mainstream newspapers and the brainwashing of opinions from the corporate media.  Our young citizens must seek to support the causes that they find morally correct and not simply support the causes that they are told to follow.  There is a gray area of difficulty with matters such as veganism and animal rights groups.  PETA seems like a good idea to support until one realizes that due to the lack of demanding homes to place rescued animals, the majority of animals that PETA rescues are euthanized each year.

As for veganism, I propose the following rationality to any vegan activist.  An animal is a living creature, quite inarguably.  So are the plants and vegetation growing amongst us in the world.  Plants have been scientifically proven to have a sense of awareness.  Plants emit a vibration level at a rapid speed when mutilated or simply pulled from the roots.  This is actually sound waves similar to when a guitar string is plucked.  This proves that plants scream when damaged.  Therefore, plants have just as much awareness of themselves and their surroundings as animals do.  The next time that you vegans take a bite of your tossed greek salad, I hope you think of that lettuce suffering before it died for your self-gratifying dietary choice.

Something needs to be done, an apocalypse needs to arrive immediately to save the majority of man.  By apocalypse, I mean not a nuclear holocaust or a pestilence of H1N1 disease.  The word originated with the definition of “a great awakening.”  Hence the only appearance of such the word in the book of Revelation within the Bible.  An apocalypse is meant to be a revealing to all men in one great, extraordinary moment.  Perhaps we missed this awakening already; it may have passed us up in the form of the absence of Obama’s birth certificate, his publicized ties to the Muslim religion, his refusal to salute the American flag and his more recent praise of socialism that he has pushed forward.

God save us all.

What’s goin on everyone? This is my first-ever post on the WPPJ Blog. I just wanna let everyone know that I started a new Sully Show Group and Fan Page on Facebook so if you’re not already a Group Member or a Fan, please become both! If we’re not already friends, add me. I’m under Ryan Sully Sullivan. Also, please vote The Sully Show for Best Talk Show and Best Overall Show for the JMC Awards! We’d really appreciate it. I’m working with Advanced Artist Marketing to create an official website for The Sully Show. Wish me luck! Things are only going to get better from here.

I have actually intended on writing a blog about my experiences over the past week but I have found myself unable to allocate time to such a subject.  I have been tied up in classwork, job hunting, work and many incredible things that have been opening up since last Friday when I hosted Old Avenue on my morning show.

This is one of my rant blogs.  I post these occasionally due to things that irk me which I share online so that others with the same annoyances that I have may feel some mutual solace in my writings.  I hope you find some in the first one that I am posting on the WPPJ web site blog.

Last night I was at my former roommate’s apartment on Mt Washington.  While there, our friend Alek received a surprise visit at the apartment from his ex girlfriend and her cousin.  They refused to leave the car, so we go outside to try to consult them and attempt to reason with them; they were drunk.  After a good half hour of these dumb drunk girls refusing to sleep in a bed by themselves to be safe, I vehemently left the car and returned to the apartment.

I returned ten minutes later to knock on the window and demand, “by the way I want the ****ing Mountain Dew that I left in the car. Now.”

This is one of my biggest annoyances and moral beliefs.  If you’re drunk and are holding car keys, I’m not going to let you go anywhere if I am able to stop you.  With these two girls, I gave up on them only because I do not even know them.  The one girl started yelling and becoming belligerent which made me not feel any remorse for them if they were to crash on their way home.  Mind you, I was also drunk hence my eventual lack of sympathy.

There are too many young, stupid teenagers and college kids going out drinking and then thinking they still maintain the capability of driving while inebriated.  I do not care if you’re “the best drunk-driver out of all my friends.”  That’s on the same level as being the smartest kid with down syndrome.  Mind you again that I have a brother with down syndrom and love him to death, which allows me to use such the comparison.

Look for my next blog coming in the next few days.  Keep sober behind the wheel in the meantime.

I was born at the tail end of the collapse of the Soviet Union.  Granted, my school didn’t make the effort to purchase new history books until around 2003…so there was a time when I really thought that Germany was still divided into east and west.  Though I find the history fascinating, it’s all very complicated and it’s going to take more than a Wiki article to help me understand it!  However, I know how hostile the relations between the United States and the Soviet Union were for about forty years.  Hey, it’s like having two huge, cigar-smoking, three-piece-suit-wearing businessmen in the room.  One of the prime factors that comes between them?  Their ego.

I feel like the United States and Russia missed out on a lot because of the Cold War.  Russia is a nation rich in history and culture, and the United States has so much to offer in terms of diversity.  I know what you’re thinking. “Why does she keep rambling on about the Soviet Union?” Well. It’s because of this man:

Eduard Anatolyevich Khil

If you’ve ever listened to my show, you know that I love international pop music, primarily from the 50s through the 70s. During my spring break, my good friend me sent me a video of him just as it was starting to become a viral phenomenon. For those of you who may have seen the video, yes, this is the Trololo guy. “Mr. Trololo,” “The Russian Rick Astley,” whatever you wish to call him. When I first saw this, I was thinking to myself, “Wow. He’s pretty happy. Ew. This is straight seventies. Wait. There are no lyrics!” The song is titled, “I am very glad, because I am finally back home.” The original lyrics are about an American cowboy who is riding back home on his horse to see his wife who is knitting him a stocking. The government deemed this as “too provocative,” so Khil was all, “Screw you I’ll sing it anyway. Just…not…with the words…”

I was a little weirded out by the hair at first, but since the 1950s, everyone has been a victim of “decade hair.” However, I decided to look a little further deeper into this mystery Slavic celebrity, because you can’t deny how amazing his voice is. He was originally trained as an opera singer. As far as I’m concerned, opera is the black belt of music. You can’t match that range or vocal quality with any other genre. But Khil preferred singing pop songs; with a voice like that, he could sing anything he wanted.

So then I looked at this video and that’s pretty much when he ripped my heart from my chest. In case you haven’t noticed, I have the biggest crush on him and it’s past the point of being pathetic. I ordered a t-shirt with his face on it the other day and I’m pretty sure it’s coming in this afternoon (so excited). I read a comment on his FaceBook fanpage saying, “I think I know why his performances are so enticing. It’s because his smile is actually genuine.”

How true this is! There is this video of him watching some of the video responses YouTube users posted to the Trololo song, most of them parodies. And he says at the end, “It is love of people. Look at the state of all of them. They are full of feeling. I don’t think that is parody.”

IN. CREDIBLE.

I have a massive amount of respect for people with that much kindness and appreciation for others. At 75, Khil has now become fascinated with the internet, saying that it unites and connects generations. He is hoping to embark on a world tour soon, and I would imagine that he wouldn’t come to the Midwest United States. I bet he’ll go to New York City, though. And I will walk there if I have to.

Anyways, I’ll leave you with this video, because I believe it truly embodies his vocal talent. I believe the song is about the Russian space program, which makes it even more fascinating to me. Not to mention, he looks incredibly handsome. Haha.

Team Eduard.
