Since this is the first ever blog post for Point Park Sportsbeat, let me introduce everyone to you and tell you what we are about before we recap the first show.
My name is Zachary Weiss, and I am the Assistant Executive Producer of Point Park Sportsbeat. My responsibilities are to take pictures of each show which can be found on the show’s Facebook page (Point Park Sportsbeat) and also write this blog recapping each show. The two hosts of the show are Kevin Calhoun the Sports Director for WPPJ and Matt Desmond who is the Executive Producer of the show.
By doing this show, the three of us hope to be able to raise awareness for Point Park Sports in the Point Park Community. This is the first radio show on campus that talks exclusively Point Park Sports.
The way the show work is Kevin and Matt come on Fridays at 2 p.m. and for an hour talk about Point Park Sports. With the fall sports season in high gear, there is a lot to talk about and Matt and Kevin give you a comprehensive look at each sport.
To help make this happen, the show books guests to come on to provide a different perspective. Guests can include players, coaches and people from the athletic department.
History was made on Friday October 2, when Point Park Sportsbeat launched. On the show Matt and Kevin gave a brief run through of each team and sport highlighting star players and exciting events moving forwards.
We were then joined in the studio by Kevin Taylor who is the Sports Information Director at Point Park. The rest of the show was spent talking with Kevin about the fall sports season and getting his thoughts on each of the teams.
On behalf of Kevin and Matt, I would like to thank you for supporting Point Park Sportsbeat and invite you to listen on Fridays from 2-3 in the afternoon.
On the second episode of Point Park Sportsbeat, Emily Levier of the Point Park Women’s Soccer Team and Anthony Russo of the Point Park Men’s Soccer Team will come onto the show to discuss their seasons. It definitely is an episode that you cannot miss! Be sure give us a “Like” on Facebook and tune in each Friday to Point Park Sportsbeat.
