This week’s featured athlete is Jimmy Sherwood a senior transfer from Arkansas Tech who is making his name known at Point Park University for his basketball skills.
Sherwood was scoring left and right in this weekend’s Lord Amherst Classic at Daemen College facing WHAC opponent Sienna Heights and Sunrise conference opponent Maine Fort Kent. Sherwood made a splash in his Pioneer debut as he registered 25 points and 8 rebounds against #25 Sienna Heights University. A double-double was in line for Sherwood against the Bengals of Maine Fort Kent as he finished the 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Sherwood is averaging 18.5 points per game adding 9.5 rebounds per game to his stat sheet on the early season thus far.
Sherwood is a new accustomed player to the AMC conference this year as he spent time in Division I basketball playing with the University of Duquesne program in his freshmen and sophomore year and added time at Arkansas Tech through his junior year and brings his play to Point Park University for his senior year. Sherwood has been an active member of the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro-AM league that features Division I athletes in the likes of Pitt star Asthon Gibbs, Robert Morris star Karon Abraham and Duquesne star T.J. McConnell.
